Lynne Cooper MBE
Professionally I served for 32 years with Dorset Police. I was mainly on response patrol and tutored many new probationers. I specialised in search advising and retired at the rank of Sergeant in 2021. I was seconded to the Princes Trust volunteer programme for 2 years, developing young people. Outside of Policing I was a member of St John Ambulance for many years and am a Duke of Edinburgh Award leader, leading expeditions in the UK, Kenya, South Africa and Sweden. I completed 3 months with Raleigh International in India. I am now a freelance outdoor instructor working with young people. In 2011 I was awarded an MBE for service to the voluntary sector.
I attended Woodlarks in 1989 completing my D of E Residential. At that point I realised the magic of the place and have attended every year since. In 2016, with my husband, we started up and run an open camp, Trekkers. I help on 2 other camps and with the winter Grotto. I have helped on 5 other open camps over the years, assisted with tent repairs, and help at various working parties. I project managed the Pantry redevelopment as well as many other site improvements (removing pillars from dining room). Woodlarks - Everyone can just be themselves. It’s a weeklong party with friends, some of whom require help. Everyone, no matter what their disability, has something to contribute. It’s like one big family. Inspirational!
