Roy’s Story

Roy’s Story

Roy’s remarkable journey: defying all odds and inspiring our community.

Roy’s story is a powerful testament to the impact your support can have. Born with disabilities, Roy’s parents were told by doctors that he would never walk, talk, or achieve anything in life. Yet, thanks to the unwavering dedication of his family and organisations like ours, Roy has defied all expectations.

Roy’s parents worked tirelessly to enrol him in a Steiner school, giving him the chance to grow and learn, even though his social world was limited to home and school. This early support set the foundation for his future.

When Roy’s aunt attended a fundraiser quiz for Trekkers Camp, one of Woodlarks’ open camps, she recognised Roy’s potential as a Woodlarks camper. Roy attended his first camp, embarking on a journey that would change his life.

Roy soon became a valued helper at Trekkers, assisting with chores, keeping the log fire going, and helping with night patrols. He took part in all activities, sharing his musical talent as an outstanding pianist. Through these experiences, Roy’s confidence and self-esteem soared.

We are proud to have welcomed Roy into our community and introduced him to Woodlarks. Roy has shown us that, when given opportunities, people can achieve far more than anyone ever imagined. His journey is proof that your generosity transforms lives.

The friendships Roy has made continue well beyond camp, strengthening our community and reminding us of the lasting difference your support makes.
